SURIGAO CITY - Elements of the Philippine Army (PA) and the Citizens Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) foiled a major New People's Army (NPA) attack on a PA-CAFGU headquarters of the 23rd Infantry Battalion early yesterday morning, it was reported.
Initial report stated that an unidentified civilian was slightly wounded when the NPA rebels, believed to be members of "Kamu" Front Committee 16 and reportedly led by Ka Abelardo Magpatoc, attacked the PA-CAFGU headquarters in Barangay Cabongbongan here at 2:30 a.m. yesterday.
