While relatively new to the machinery industry, it hasn't taken long for sales of compact track loaders to get on track. Known by several names--compact track loaders, rubber track loaders, multi-terrain loaders, etc.--this segment of the machine industry is estimated at $700 million, with unit sales expected to reach 20,000 by the close of 2005, according to information from Yengst Associates Inc. Not surprisingly, those kinds of numbers have led more manufacturers to jump on the track loader bandwagon each year.

In 2004 alone, the compact track loader market had sales of about 16,000 units, which according to Yengst, is a stark contrast from the 850 machines ...
