The White House released a new maritime security strategy that calls for creation of a "shared situational awareness capability" that will link the Departments of Homeland Security, Defense and Justice.
While the new strategy re-emphasizes the administration's previous commitments to a more robust maritime security, it could spur investment in new technology. Among other things, the new strategy document calls for increased use of sensor technology and data fusion.
