A month after Hurricane Katrina battered homes, neighborhoods and schools in Slidell, La., the city of Oswego wants to help the community rebuild.
Oswego common councilors voted Monday night to adopt Slidell as Oswego's sister city.
They also agreed to encourage Oswego residents to purchase gift cards from Lowe's, Home Depot, J.C. Penney and Wal-Mart to help Slidell residents who lost most or all of their belongings as a result of Katrina.
