DEET is an effective repellent for mosquitoes, but many parents have concerns about its safety for children. Two recent case studies using data collected from poison control centers found that DEET has a low risk of toxicity. There have been studies that found dangerous interactions with other agents, but these were military and industrial chemicals that pose little risk for most children.
