THE TOPICAL USE of high-potency vitamin C (L-ascorbic acid) preparations has been receiving more attention from dermatologists and other skin professionals. Interesting results were reported by Humbert, et al (1) from one of their studies of the dermal concentration of vitamin C. They show that the dermal concentration of vitamin C in subjects in their 20s is 35% higher than that of subjects in their 50s. These results suggest that skin requires more vitamin C as it ages.
