Sep. 30--CEDAR RAPIDS --- The University of Northern Iowa has been drafted into a court battle between two competing baseball training equipment companies.
UNI purchased a high-tech Allstar Pro 5000 batting cage system from a Georgia company called Joyner Technologies for the Panther's baseball team late last year.
Now a Connecticut business is crying foul.
ProBatter Sports, says the simulator, which fuses a pitching machine with the synchronized computer image of a ball player winding up, is an unlicensed copy of its ProBatter Simulator used by the Boston Red Sox and other Major League teams.
