DETROIT _ When it finally happened, when it had become official, when all the doubters had been quieted and all the fears overcome, the Chicago White Sox gathered quietly near the mound at Comerica Park and hugged each other.
No pileups, no wives, no kids, no riotous revelry. By baseball standards, it was a subdued celebration.
"We kind of talked about it," team leader Mark Buehrle said. "We didn't really want to make it a big deal. We have a lot of work ahead of us. If we win the World Series or the American League championship, then we can celebrate like that.
