Oct. 2--As live music from local cover bands rolled across the hill at Dean Porter Park, people, children and families strolled through more than a dozen food booths at Saturday's Gulf Shrimp Fiesta tasting the different seafood dishes and appreciating the local cuisine.
Food booths at the event featured local favorites such as tortas, elotes, aguas frescas and onion blossoms while a half-dozen or so featured shrimp, ceviche and other types of seafood.
Organizer Patsy Rosas said attendance picked up during the evening hours but was down when compared to last year's shrimp festival. This year marks the third shrimp festival for Brownsville.
