Oct. 2--For years, the developers of Midtown's Atlantic Station proudly described the retail village that would sit in the heart of this massive live-work-play community.
They showed off colorful renderings and slide presentations and asked you to imagine an open-air shopping district unlike any ever seen in Atlanta, and rarely seen in any urban community. They pointed to piles of gravel and dirt on the site of an old steel mill and promised they'd soon be replaced by brick buildings bearing the names of big retailers.
Finally, that plan is taking physical form.
