Throw out both babies and the wash.(market share of DVD-audio, audio cassette recorders)

Face it. The music industry blew it when it came to selecting a next-generation format that would bring "high-resolution" fidelity to their products. It was thinking physical media at a time when the world was going Internet.

It's 2005, but DVD Audio and SACD, the industry's so-called next-generation formats, are still outsold by vinyl LPs, technology from the 1930's and 1940's. Heck, tape cassettes, 1970's technology, sell three times as much as DVD Audios and SACDs combined.

It would seem clear that the labels ought to throw out both the babies and the wash. They need to develop an audio format that's the equivalent to high definition for video. It has to be a ...
