Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman (SASC) John Warner (R-Va.) believes Congress will pass a defense authorization bill for fiscal 2006, despite a legislative agenda now dominated by the Hurricane Katrina disaster.
"Don't for a moment doubt we won't get a defense bill. I am steadfast on that," Warner told reporters yesterday. He conceded Senate leaders faced a "very unusual process" in scheduling the bill with hurricane relief, the Supreme Court nominations and several annual spending bills now crowding the congressional calendar.
