BRITAIN is bottom of the European league for giving out new cancer drugs, a damning report reveals.
Patients have poorer survival rates because of the delays, researchers warn.
They blame the problem on the UK medicines watchdog, the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence, saying it can't cope with the task of evaluating drugs quickly.
Researcher Nils Wilking, from the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, said: 'The UK, Czech Republic, Hungary, Norway and Poland are constantly identified as being below average adopters of new cancer drugs.' The report, to be presented to the European Parliament this week, looked at ...
