A federal district court has ruled that the National Indian Gaming Commission lacked the authority to impose minimum internal control standards (MICS) on Class III gaming at Indian casinos.

The NIGC, created under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act, is an independent federal regulatory agency within the Department of the Interior.
