Oct. 4--HAMPTON, Va. -- Back in the 1970s, when Walter Ewell helped start one of his many successful companies, he hoped to connect small businesses with services such as accounting and advertising.
"The problem with the concept at the time is you didn't have the Net a platform to provide the services you wanted to provide," said Ewell.
Although Ewell's financial management services company succeeded, he knew it would be a long time before all services could be convenient and cheap for the average small business.
