As I Was Saying
Blotched undercarpet (no carpet) the hue of lead.
A pilfered coaster
welded to a sill.
Sooty cupboards. One dented
plastic bear rigid with honey.
Nightlong scritch-scratching--an anxious mouse
cowering in the crumb pan of his toaster.
The back door bore a Zorro-slash of mustard.
