Oct. 2--Media and aircraft magnate Serge Dassault is spending E5m ($6m, [pounds sterling]3.4m) in a relaunch of daily newspaper Le Figaro, which appears on Monday in cut down broadsheet form and backed by an advertising push, aimed at turning round a long-term circulation decline.

Latest figures from the OJD industry body show that although sales continue to shrink, the 140-year old daily has overtaken arch-rival Le Monde in domestic, paid-for circulation, making the conservative Le Figaro the leading national daily in sales.
