Oct. 5--NORFOLK -- The decision of Holland America Line to pull out of the Hampton Roads port in 2007 will soon leave only one of the four major cruise lines now making regular calls to the city remaining.
Holland America chose to launch a new ship out of New York and didn't need two Northeast ports, said Erik Elvejord, a spokesman for Holland America, based in Seattle. New York offered a greater population within driving distance and subsequently more potential for sales.
