Oct. 5--McALLEN -- Local RV park owners are hoping higher gas prices nationwide do not discourage Winter Texans from traveling to the Rio Grande Valley this year.
Usually, mobile homes start rolling south on U.S. Highway 281 during October or November, but the U.S. Energy Information Administration reports there's no end in sight to the high gas prices. In states like Illinois and Iowa -- home to many Winter Texans -- average prices are now about $3 per gallon and RVs typically get seven to 13 miles per gallon.
