The recent nuptials of New Orleans couple Rebecca Warren and Joseph
Smothers shows that life goes on, even in the face of disaster.
The couple, engaged to be wed, were separated amid the chaos of the New Orleans flood. They reunited at the Houston Astrodome where they married.
Former world heavyweight boxing champion Evander Holyfield, who had been visiting the stadium, stepped in to give away the bride.
As the couple rejoiced in their union, 350 miles away legions of soldiers, contractors and engineers were at work breathing life into their hometown.
