TONY BLAIR is backing contentious plans to build a new generation of nuclear power stations, it emerged yesterday.
The Prime Minister is ready to take on the Labour Left and champion nuclear power in the battle to cut greenhouse gas emissions. He infuriated many in the party by flagging up the possibility of nuclear reactors at the Labour conference last month andTrade Secretary Alan Johnson has pledged that a decision on the nuclear issue would be made before the end of next year.
