THE number of Transport for London officials earning more than [pounds sterling]100,000 has increased by almost 50 per cent in a year.

Figures reveal that 74 executives picked up six- figure salaries, compared with 50 in the previous 12 months.

Twenty-three take home more than Ken Livingstone - whose salary was recently increased by [pounds sterling]18,000 to [pounds sterling]133,997 to put him on a par with a Cabinet minister.

The revelations come only days after the Mayor announced massive rises in Tube and bus fares that will cost passengers an extra [pounds sterling]130million a year.
