DOGTOOTH (or houndstooth as it is also known) marries superbly well with the grownup tailoring that features so heavily this season. The black-and-white trend first emerged on the catwalk in the form of bell-shaped skirts and oversized jackets at Proenza Schouler, when the American design duo teamed them with silk lilac shift dresses and grey tops with sewn-on Perspex discs.
MaxMara's oversized onion-shaped skirts were put with plain dark knits - a safe option if you are worried about dog-tooth overload.
However, going monochrome is not the only way to wear this look.
