Article: New Delhi, Oct 10 (PTI) The Panchayati Raj Ministry today roped in the Kolkata-based Institution of Engineers (India) (IE) for providing training to local bodies in skill upgradation and capacity building.

Ministry of Panchayati Raj and IE signed an MoU here today to work together towards strenghtening Panchayati Raj Institutions. IE would initially take up six states, namely Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
Speaking on the occassion, Panchayati Raj Minister Manishankar Aiyar said, "This is a historic day. The most learned and experienced of our country are lending their expertise to those who are not.
