Last week, The Hundred Group, which represents FTSE100 finance directors, announced that around 60 FTSE100 companies would invest a combined [pounds sterling]5m in a five-year joint project to set up a centre that would focus on taxation policies and policy options. It comes as HMRC steps up its tax avoidance crackdown.
Dr Christopher Wales, founder of the initiative and UK managing director of investment bank Goldman Sachs, told Accountancy Age that firms were not involved 'at this stage', but that it was 'likely' there would be an 'interest in developing an appropriate relationship', including secondments from firms as well as government.
