Essay contest in middle and high schools promotes fiscal education.

Oct. 12--Florida high school and middle school students with a knowledge of finances are eligible for more than $7,500 in prizes in a statewide essay contest conducted by the Florida Department of Financial Services.

The contest, "Cash in on Your Money Smarts," is designed to encourage investor education. It offers a top individual award of $750 for one student in each of five geographic regions. Charlotte, DeSoto, Sarasota, Lee and Manatee counties are among the 12 counties in Region 3.
