Many experts in embedded passives do it, and I'm often guilty of it myself. Someone will ask me to give a talk about EPs, and I'll spend almost the entire time on resistors and capacitors, with little attention paid to inductors. In fact, the vast majority of all EP papers at the conferences and in the journals concern resistors and caps alone, including those that address layout and costing. One reason is that inductors are not a fabrication challenge at all, and that takes them off the radar for most of us who spend our working lives trying to figure out how to make things and make them cheaply.
