SYDNEY, Oct 14 Asia Pulse - Air New Zealand (ASX:AIZ) has appointed Rob Fyfe as its new chief executive to replace former chief executive and managing director Ralph Norris.
Mr Fyfe who was Air New Zealand group general manager, airlines, was the favoured candidate to replace Mr Norris, who resigned to become head of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (ASX:CBA).
"I'm certainly very excited and very proud to be given this opportunity," Mr Fyfe said at a press conference in Auckland.
Chairman John Palmer said Mr Fyfe had been among a number of candidates, within Air New Zealand and globally.
