A clear shift towards higher-grade wheat varieties is evident in the UK as attention focuses on high-grade wheat exports to Egypt in the new marketing year, according to a senior official from British Cereal Exports (BCE).
George Forbes, vice chairman of BCE, told the annual HGCA Grain Market Outlook conference on Wednesday that Egypt, the world's largest wheat import market, was now seen as a key U K target.
Egypt was highlighted as the most important of the North African import markets, requiring 7.5 million tonnes of the crop annually.
