Article: New Delhi, Oct 14 (PTI) Beating the slack demand in the 'shradh' period, passenger car sales in the domestic market continued on the recovery path rising 9.7 per cent in the month of September to 77,411 units against 70,507 units in the same month l ast year.

Car sales, which have been on a roller-coaster ride this fiscal, moved up for the second consective month with major players like Maruti and Hyundai realising higher sales.

While Maruti saw sales jump 15.8 per cent to 40,047 units, the growth for Hyundai was 22 per cent at 14,283 units.

Explaining the rationale behind the rise in car sales despite the Shradh period, considered inauspicious for new purchases, an official with Maruti said that customers continued to make bookings, though delaying taking deliveries.
