WIRRAL'S Daniel Craig was officially unveiled as the sixth James Bond yesterday on a Royal Marine speedboat on the Thames.

The 37-year-old actor arrived in 007 style to make the announcement which ensured he would be the first blond Bond in the film series' history.

Craig, who grew up in Hoylake, said he was "speechless" to have landed the job as successor to Pierce Brosnan.

He said: "I had a couple of Martinis when I found out. I've been a Bond fan ever since I was a kid and I've got a big pair of shoes to step into after Pierce.

"It's a responsibility but it's also a huge adventure ...
