ST. PAUL SAINTS; New league has old name: American Association.(SPORTS)

The St. Paul Saints' first step toward playing in a new league was taken Wednesday with the announcement that the league will be called the American Association. The Saints will be joined in the league, which will begin play next season, by the Sioux Falls Canaries, Sioux City Explorers, Lincoln Saltdogs and several teams to be determined.

Miles Wolff, the founder and first commissioner of the Northern League, has been asked to serve as commissioner of the American Association. Wolff is commissioner of the Texas-based Central Baseball League as well as the Can-Am League, which has teams in the northeast United States and Quebec.
