THURLES Sarsfields ended a 31-year wait for the Tipperary hurling title with a comfortable victory over first-time finalists Drom & Inch at Semple Stadium yesterday.
"The famine is over" proclaimed victorious captain Ger 'Redser' O'Grady, as he evoked memories of Richie Stakelum's speech in Killarney back in 1987 when Tipp ended a 16-year wait for a Munster title.
O'Grady now looks certain to be nominated to captain Tipperary in 2006 - and the armband would be a dream come true for the man who grew up just a stone's throw ...
