In April 2005, Sens. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., and John Cornyn, R-Texas, announced plans to introduce legislation that would dramatically reform the nation's current immigration laws. The draft enforcement provisions of this legislation were released in May 2005 and revised provisions were incorporated into comprehensive legislation titled the Comprehensive Enforcement and Immigration Reform Act of 2005.
