Change remains constant for Beaver County, Pa.-area grocery-store scene.

Oct. 17--Three years after the opening of a Wal-Mart Supercenter in Chippewa Township, the grocery store scene in northern Beaver County remains in flux.

Shop 'n Save at Chippewa Center has announced it will close. A 5-percent-off sale on all items began today and was expected to last for the next four weeks.

Shop 'n Save, owned by Minneapolis-based SuperValu, faced competition not only from Wal-Mart, located just down Route 51 in Chippewa Towne Centre, but also from locally dominant grocer Giant Eagle, which has a store between Wal-Mart and Shop 'n Save in the Chippewa Towne Square.
