Oct. 20--At Scheid Vineyards Inc., a member of the board of directors has stepped down and a new member has been appointed as the company complies with a complicated federal law designed to protect shareholders.

At stake is the company's listing on the Nasdaq SmallCap Market.

The Salinas-based company, a producer of wine grapes and bulk wine, announced Wednesday that Scheid's senior vice president, treasurer and secretary, Heidi Scheid, resigned from the company's five-member board of directors. Scheid is the daughter of Scheid Chairman Al Scheid and sister of CEO and President Scott Scheid.
