While the Tyneside Irish Festival concludes this week, two other major music showcases get started.
Jazz On The Outside starts tonight and later in the week the four-day WOMEX event begins. The Sage, Gateshead, will host the lion's share of the activity, with some events in the nearby Baltic.
Irish traditional music gets a rousing finale with three major events this weekend. Fiddler Frankie Gavin is at Gosforth Civic Hall tonight, and tomorrow the revered ballad singer, Patsy Watchorn, visits the Tyneside Irish Centre at Gallowgate.
