OVERVIEW
Students read about three creatures--or "monsters"--that are known to exist only in legend and rumor. Whether or not they are real is a matter of opinion. Scientists have been trying to prove or disprove the existence of these animals for many years. In the case of Bigfoot and the Loch Ness monster, evidence seems to indicate that the creatures never lived, but were merely figments of fantasy or wishful thinking. However, even in the face of debunked theories and hoaxes, many people are unwilling to give up their belief in the monsters.
