When getting an estimate for repairing your home, nobody goes about it like this:
"Hi. We need to get our roof replaced. I'd like an estimate."
The company comes out and hands you a sheet: $10,000.
"OK, when can you start?" you answer.
Nobody - aside from maybe Donald Trump - does this.
Instead, you'd call about three companies and most likely find out somebody will do the work for $5,000 or so.
