The Belleville News-Democrat, the southwestern Illinois daily newspaper with the highest circulation in its traditional coverage area, has expanded its presence on the west side of the Mississippi with a new edition sold in downtown St. Louis and dozens of locales north, south and west of the Arch.
It welcomes all readers, but it takes particular aim at a group that reads less and spends a lot: the growing population of workers under 50 who work in downtown St. Louis.
"St. Louis Edition," centered below the News-Democrat mast (sans Belleville), identifies the four-page section that's wrapped around the main body of the paper on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
