Innovation Suffers in IT budgets.(survey)

Investment in innovative technologies is declining among North American and European companies, and many business executives see their IT departments as unresponsive, says a report from A.T. Kearney.

While 67% of business executives think IT innovation is important or critical to their companies' success, only 20% of companies' IT investment is allocated to IT innovation. That's a 30% decline from a similar study conducted in 2002.

The report, "Why Today's IT Organization Won't Work Tomorrow," also notes a widening disconnect between how business executives and technology executives view the IT department's role in the organization.
