In recent years, there have been a number of articles published on lightning protection for boats - some informative and some not quite so practical. However, within the last four years, the American Boat & Yacht Council (ABYC), National Fire Protection Agency (NFPA), Underwriter's Lab (UL) and the U.S. Coast Guard have all performed a series of studies on the subject of lightning protection for small boats.
