Text message at your own risk! That's the latest warning from doctors to heavy users of handheld electronics, including cell phones. Excessive text messaging on these devices is causing an increase in tendonitis, a swelling of the connective tissue in the hand and wrist.
Electronics users can spend hours typing in messages--to the detriment of their digits. "[Hand-helds] ... are getting smaller with even more features, which encourage heavy, extended use," says Donna Breger-Stanton, president of the American Society of Hand Therapists (ASHT).
