CHICAGO - Houston Astros left-hander Andy Pettitte made his 34th career postseason start last night in Game 2 of the World Series against the Chicago White Sox, passing teammate Roger Clemens (33), the Game 1 starter, for most ever in the playoffs.
Pettitte's 11th World Series start moved him into a tie with Christy Mathewson and Waite Hoyt for second-most ever, trailing only Hall of Famer Whitey Ford (22). A Pettitte victory would be his 15th in the postseason, which would tie him with John Smoltz for most all-time.
