`North Country" is a how-to movie, of a sort. It answers the question: How did a tightly knit Minnesota mining town end up with people hating each other?
The movie is a fictionalized account of a group of female miners who sued an Iron Range taconite company for sexual harassment. Because it's a landmark case, most viewers won't be surprised by how it ends. But this is no typical courtroom drama. Like director Niki Caro's last film, "Whale Rider," it focuses on the misogynistic attitudes of a small, relatively isolated culture.
