The Supreme Court yesterday declared valid the sale of the assets of Philippine Free Press, Inc. to Liwayway Publishing, Inc. in 1973 and upheld the decisions handed down by the trial court in 1995 and the Court of Appeals in 1998.
In a decision written by Justice Cancio C. Garcia, the High Court ruled: "Wherefore, the petition (filed by Free Press) is denied, and the challenged decision of the Court of Appeals is affirmed."
Justices Artemio V. Panganiban, Angelina Sandoval Gutierrez, Renato C. Corona, and Conchita Carpio Morales concurred in the decision.
