Over several years, retiring Overture Center president Bob D'Angelo received hundreds of dollars worth of free, unreported meals and drinks from local businesses, a practice that could violate the city and state ethics laws.
The freebies came not only through written business trade agreements previously uncovered by the Wisconsin State Journal but also in at least three more unwritten deals in which D'Angelo gave businesses free advertising or tickets, business owners confirmed. City and state laws prohibit public employees from using their positions for financial gain or to obtain anything of value for themselves.
