Shamefully, the lockout got another great. Fans never got to say a proper goodbye to Mark Messier, Al MacInnis, Ron Francis and Scott Stevens.
Unfortunately, the final sight of Brett Hull was as a gassed out-of-shape player realizing he just didn't have it anymore: "I wasn't Brett Hull at 30 - or 35, even. I was 41 years old, and after a year-and-a-half layoff, I didn't have what it took to play in the new game."
Nobody shot the puck like Hull. He found the open space, unleashed and departed the NHL's third-highest goal scorer with 741. He showed his true colors, too, by winning a Stanley Cup in Dallas while taking needles so ...
