An Oct. 8 Register-Guard editorial began with "The Eugene School District has done all that could reasonably be expected to accommodate neighbors who hope to preserve Santa Clara Elementary School for community use."
If that were true, the district could have given the Santa Clara group more time to put together a viable proposal to purchase the property at a reasonable price and then develop it as a community center and neighborhood park.
