Rao was executive director and second in command of Infosys.
The new company will be headquartered in Melbourne, according to a release issued through Asianet. Benchmark will comprise of a number of related information solutions businesses the first of which, Value Chain Integration, is expected to launch in Australia in early 2006.
The company's solutions will leverage the collective knowledge of a number of well known IT heavyweights, the release added.
